Lots of different colors on a fursuit?

Posted by [info]furlone in [info]fursuit on 2009.11.16 at 22:50
I personally, don't think I like my purple coyote, so I am remaking one. So how do people od it? I see like a lot of colors on some, like black, white, blue, yellow. I was thinking how do they make it look good? Do they just use alot of those different color furs? Or do they paint/paintbrush it w/e. I am guessing the color would go ontop, so like If I was to spray yellow over black you could see yellow, not black. I want an easy, but an effective way of putting different colors on head/ body.

They know their target market Oh So Well.

Foam for heads...

Posted by [info]kitshera in [info]fursuit on 2009.11.16 at 21:34
Hey what is the exact name of the type of foam people use when making heads for the plastic mesh technique? I have the majority of the materials I need, and also where else can I buy it that's not Jo-Ann's? The closest Jo-ann's is 2 hours away and I can't get there... or is there anywhere I can order it online?
I'm in Greenville, SC btw.

Slow Death at Work Day

Except for the phones, today was a little slow at work. I welcomed that change from the fast paced load of last week. The phones, however, did not stop ringing. There's a lot of people who call way to early. When I explain to them that the department they want isn't open for another hour, they seem to act like a small mentally challenged child who just saw their toy disappear under a box like magic.

And then the hissy fit/crying starts.

Anyway, this week will hopefully continue to be a little slower than normal. I know Wednesday there is a 2 hour faculty/staff lunch so we'll be closed for that. :) I'm baking two chocolate cakes under the name scheme of "Cake or Death" as one is a rich chocolatey cake and the other is enough chocolate to kill a horse at 10 paces just by looking at it.

If I'm lucky, it'll take out a few coworkers I don't like.

And finally a congratulations to NASA for a successful launch of Atlantis. *thumb up* I never consider the launches routine and I never get tired of watching them. Watching the shuttle and rocket launches is something you can really only get here in central Florida. The sonic boom from landing... well we do occasionally share that fun with California. When the weather isn't cooperating anyway.

Speaking of weather, after nearly two days our AC unit finally kicked on. :c Dang.

I give today a B-

I wish I was exagerating about the hissy fit/crying part.

Angry and Hungry... AGAIN!

>=( I have been waiting a MONTH now for that stupid check to arrive from my old school. The one they are legally obligated to release to me. It was suppose to be here 2 weeks ago.

I have $1 to my name. Nothing gluten free cost $1. I borrowed $40 from Josh's parents for food last Wednesday and I stupidly spent $15 of it on paper to draw commissions on...

..stupid...angry... now I'm out of food again.

I'm not happy.

The wonderful thing about Nekocon, aside from the OBVIOUS AND AWESOME BONUS of hanging out with a huge number of my friends for one very long weekend that was so not long enough, was getting to roll around Artist Alley and the Dealer's room.

Especially when you've been good for a chunk of the year and saved lots of money. And the exchange rate was in your favour the week you flew over.

The Dealer's Room opened, and Nick and I found this on something like the 2nd or 3rd lap around the entire place.

I think I spent just under an hour agonising over whether or not to get it, and revisited about 3 times to show it to other people.

Yes, I caved. No, I didn't have enough room for it AND my clothes in my suitcase; I ended up having to buy a second bag BUT IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT YOU GUYS.

IT WAS

HONEST

DON'T JUDGE ME

I am so posting a pic a day as I reopen the box and start putting things together and figuring out which button does what on my new camera.

(Vaguely Related Tangent: Speaking of cameras, I need to cadge some photos from my Florida visit of awesome ♥ especially from the Disneyworld sidetrip. They even had a Princess Tiana's...somethingsomething to pitch the Princess and the Frog movie on the river boat in the 'New Orleans' area -- the girl playing Tiana was gorgeous, as was her dress, and the guy playing Prince Naveen wasn't bad looking either! :3)

But ANYWAY. Nekocon!

Artist Alley was awesome (as ever, i like hanging out in Artist Alley when I visit cons), and I even got a couple of commissions between the many prints I purchased. I'm waiting on one for Excellen which wasn't finished in time by con's end and will be sent on at some point, but the one I really loved was this one of Sophia Nate from super robot wars; it's freakin' impossible to find fanart for her, so I was thrilled by Heidi's work.

(It's kinda skewed at an angle. Camera, not scanner. :( deal, mortals.)

I am very tempted to ask for another of her from her at some point in the future, I swear.

at some point i may talk about people i met and stuff i did but until then SHINY THINGS

First off, yes I was irked by the letter from a terrorist organization to unnamed furry convention. I laughed at the false statements in the letter to chairman of unnamed convention. This post is somewhat of a direct reaction, though I've skinned animals before for the fur. I'm in no way decent at tanning, I tend to negligently bruise the membrane which makes the fur fall off.

Three topics/questions I wish to ask which someone may have already performed.

1) leather wrist bands or guards, think leather wrist guards around roman times.
Are there any issues with wearing such objects over faux fur? Slippage? Flattening of fur?

2) I've seen some of the most beautiful tanning in various places, is there an online source of fur from a tanner or someone who sells real animal fur? I don't even want to attempt tanning myself outside of the fleshing and salting, the chemicals required can burn your skin clear off.

3) I wouldn't want to ruin a perfect vacuumed animal, but is anyone here in to taxidermy which may know about using part of an animal on a fursuit like the nose? Obviously the animal would have to be at a size of relation to the person. Would I be able to make a cast from vacuumed animal parts?

For those who may not know about taxidermy. The vacuum process allows for all air to be removed, there are further steps afterwards. You see such animals after processing in museum displays, they keep the real nose/lips/mouth/etc, its not fake.

I got an email from Staples with some deals in it, including a 22" widescreen LCD monitor for $129.99. On top of that, there was a $25 coupon in the email, which brings the total including tax and free shipping to $110.24...

Should I get a new monitor?

Here's the monitor: http://www.staples.com/V7-Series-D22W12-22-Widescreen-LCD-Monitor/product_699432?cmArea=FEATURED:SC3:CG4

FULL, thanks

So this time the deal is a 500*500 pic for $10 (you don't really have to add anything, unless you want to give me a tip)

It's that glorious time of year when we reunite with loved ones (we neglected all year), stuff our faces to excess, and pass out in front of the TV. Perhaps a recalibration of the thanksometer is in order. A spin-off of the popular GivesMeHope.com site, this community invites you to document moments of kindness, generosity, and pure human love.

Despite its mainstream appeal, Thanksgiving is not for everyone. There are those struggling with food disorders, for whom this day causes endless conflict. There are the cash-challenged, who can't afford the gluttony we've grown to expect. There are the lonely, who don't have loved ones nearby. And let's not forget the vegetarians, who decry the animal cruelty. But there's one more group we often overlook: the terminally lazy! This community of lazy vegetarians offers easy recipes for an animal-friendly feast.

Just in time for holiday shopping season, this fashionista community brings you the world of haute couture in the form of sumptuous photos, video clips, and candid commentary. There's also a sugary sprinkle of mainstream movie discussions and debates on such pressing social issues as manicure styles and celebrity colonics. If you need a break from the daily grind to indulge your girlie side, this is twinkly pink on steroids.

I'm new to being a furry and i'm interested in learning how to make fursuits for fun. I'm also new to live journal and Fur Affinity, so any help would be nice. A first time guide would be great.

It finally has happened. Sophie and Mishka are playing. They were playing some last week, but it was still Sophie being all hissy. Now they are wrestling. lol I caught some of the action this morning while they were rolling around on the papasan chair. Enjoy.

What are people using as the see-through tear duct material on suits with glass eyes? Is it just color buckram, or some kind of screen? What do you all use?

Thanks!

I got this in an email and wanted to share.
